![]() ![]() launcher that lets you pick mods and start network games.most things work, including sound, music, multiplayer and both the GL4 and GLES2 hardware renderers. In my case, having local co-op has been a useful feature at several social gatherings, hence my recommendation. I also don't believe you can have 4 player split screen support on the latest port either, and the OP didn't specify what exactly they were wanting outside of GZDoom being supported on Xbox One or not. I can get on the computer and use a better version of the game than any of the ports on Xbox. The music is busted on the previous ports I mentioned, but I don't recall requiring a Bethesda net account to get started on any of the previous Xbox ports (yes, you don't have to mention that this has since been patched, I am aware), and if I want to play Back to Saturn X. Putting two and two together, you could assume that I meant that the PC version is superior to any of the Xbox versions, which is what I was getting at with that comment. The ports are directly from the PC version (wasn't arguing that), but they are not perfect copies of the PC version, and if you played any of them, including the one you claim is still receiving regular updates, you would know this already. The original Xbox version does indeed only work on certain 360 models and the OG Xbox. I know this because they are on my hard drive. You can also access them through owning a physical copy of BFG edition for Xbox 360. If you already owned the ports before the latest port was released, you can still access the old versions. I can't think why you'd pick the port that doesn't have Back To Saturn X.įirst of all, you're mistaken about the one I mentioned being unavailable on Xbox One. The XBLA port has busted music (playing at a lower tempo) and the current 2019/2020 port is still receiving regular updates, has addon support on all platforms and expanded limits, resolution, uncapped framerate interpolation and an authentic soundtrack recorded from an SC-55. ![]() You might want to explain this viewpoint, given that it doesn't make any sense. It is not available on the Xbox One, and isn't sold on any digital storefront.Īll of the ports you have listed are directly from the PC version. Though the better question is, do you even need GZDoom? The 2019 Doom & Doom2 port is currently on sale now and provides a good handful of quality community addons for free, as indicated before. (This would outright block any such port form actually being released.) GZDoom is also GPLv3, which I think that might in turn cause issues with the tivoization clause due to the aforementioned requirement of developer access. On top of that, developer access is a requirement, given that Microsoft do not allow games to be released as apps on the Xbox store front. At present nobody has bothered because of this hurdle, as well as the lack of OpenGL and OpenAL, meaning DirectX 11/12 and Xaudio2 (assuming they are available in app mode) would have to be added. Only ERA devkits have access to the full resources, and they aren't exactly homebrew devices. It also means releasing it is equally dubious, as it would require having developer access (a one time payment of $17 IIRC). This makes porting something like GZDoom quite improbable due to memory and API restrictions (the app API isn't meant for games). It only supports this for its app store, not for games. To answer this one in detail: So the Xbox One does have homebrew support, kind of (and yes, homebrew is really your only option here, there is no reality in which GZDoom would be handled in an official capacity). The question is can i run gzdoom on xbone one. If I had to pick one it would be the XBLA versions because to me they play better than the latest port, but that's just my opinion. I don't find any of the ports to be as great as the PC version, but they do work just fine for the most part and there is multiplayer support for these, some of them also have local multiplayer options as well. ![]() NRFTL is not on this one, but there are a couple secret maps exclusive to this version, and they suck. it's not much different from the XBLA versions. not sure if this one is backwards compatible or not though.
