![]() ![]() The recommended setting for a Crucial SSD is AHCI, and having it set as IDE or RAID can cause detection issues in our Storage Executive software. The mode settings are IDE, RAID, or AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface). The SATA Mode setting can be in a few different locations depending on the system manufacturer and BIOS or UEFI revision, so you may have to look around to find it. To check this setting, you will need to boot into your system firmware interface, depending on your system either UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) or BIOS (Basic Input Output System). The SATA Operation Mode (or SATA Mode) is how the system communicates with the installed drive. The information below will walk you through the most common way to resolve the issue. This occurs either from an outdated or incompatible Chipset/SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) driver, or when the SATA mode is set to either IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) or RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks). Even when it will detect other non-Crucial drives in your system. Otherwise, it looks like an RMA situation to me.There are some instances when Crucial’s Storage Executive software will not detect a Crucial SSD. I'm sure you've thought of that, but mentioning it just in case, and if you happened to change something when testing the Intel 760p. I don't have your board but I know on some previous versions of the EDGE, and current versions of other boards, the M2_1 slot was effectively disabled if all SATA ports were used. Last thing to check is the SATA situation. I guess something like that is conceivable for M.2 slots as well. I'd previously seen examples of damaged PCIe slots in which some graphics cards still functioned while others didn't, because of the different circuit arrangement on the graphics card and the relative importance of different input pins. ![]() It's notable that this is not only presumably older, but also a lot smaller and therefore probably requiring less power. The only puzzle is the fact that then Intel 760p is detected. If you haven't tried the Transcend drive in one of the other slots yet, that would be the obvious next step to confirm that. You've established that the various drives are fine, you've established that multiple drives cannot be detected in the M2_1 slot and you've established that at least some of those drives can be detected in other slots. If problem is on BIOS or SSD firmware, why MSI side can detect the same family SSD without problem.Īnyone has any clues? Last resort is to send in to MSI, but only want to do it if no other solutions, coz it's troublesome and take time.Ĭlearly something is up with your MSI board. If problem is on my motherboard's hardware, why it can detect Intel 760p but not any others. Motherboard on latest and/or also an unreleased version provided by MSI tech support. (They provide a screenshot)Īll the SSD are working on other PCs and with latest firmware. Transcend PCIe SSD 220S 2TB (PCIE 3): M2_1 cannot detectĬrucial P3 Plus 1TB (PCIE 4): M2_1 can detect. Intel 760p 256GB (PCIE 3): all M.2 port can detect.Ĭrucial P3 Plus 4TB (PCIE 4): M2_1 can't detect, other M.2 ports can detect MSI tried to reproduce it, their motherboard can detect Crucial P3 Plus 1 TB (same family but smaller size than mine). Installed to M2_1 another SSD I have: Transcend PCIe SSD 220S 2TB (TS2TMTE220S). ![]()
